Data Centre Access with 10kPa Roofed Bridge
A Proscaf 10 kPa bridge gave a Sydney data centre project a dedicated route across internal roads without slowing vehicle movements, deliveries or the working area.
Data centre projects often involve multiple buildings under construction at the same time. As these buildings take shape, internal roads connect separate work zones. Those roads need to remain available for vehicles and deliveries while workers move between site entry points and their workface.
For this Sydney project, more than 400 workers needed to enter the site each day. Their route crossed internal roads used by site traffic. The project needed a dedicated crossing that separated personnel from vehicles while maintaining movement across the wider working area.
The access requirement was more than a temporary walkway. The bridge needed to match the daily flow of the site, provide a defined route for personnel and protect the area below the crossing point.
A purpose-built Proscaf bridge
Scaffold was selected as the practical construction method. SafeSmart supplied the engineering and Proscaf scaffold package, with Erect Safe Scaffolding acting as the Proscaf delivery partner responsible for building and installing the bridge on site.
The completed bridge package included 10 kPa overhead protection. This provided protection below the crossing point while allowing workers to move between site areas without crossing the internal roads at ground level.
The design was considered around the way the site operated. Worker movement, vehicle access, deliveries and surrounding work areas all formed part of the access requirement.
Connecting entry points to the workface
The completed bridge gave the project a dedicated route for personnel. It also created better separation from internal traffic and helped protect the area below.
For the client, the value came from having one bridge package that matched the daily flow of the site. Crews could move from entry to workface through a defined access route while vehicles and deliveries continued to use the internal roads.
