Faced with the challenge of maintaining public safety and access amidst construction activities, Proscaf provided tailored scaffolding solutions that ensured pedestrian safety while allowing construction to proceed with minimal disruption.
At the Rozelle Interchange, Proscaf installed a ramp equipped with anti-skid flooring, childproof guardrails, and fence netting, facilitating safe public transit over the construction site without inhibiting pedestrian or construction traffic. In Campsie, a temporary covered walkway was implemented to protect pedestrians from construction debris during demolition works, incorporating standard planks with plastic covering and load-bearing standards for added safety.
The article highlights the adaptability, safety, and compliance of Proscaf’s solutions, emphasising the efficiency of installation and the minimal impact on surrounding activities. Proscaf’s dedication to through-life support ensured that the safety and functional needs were met throughout the project durations. These case studies showcase Proscaf’s expertise in delivering safe, efficient, and compliant public access solutions in complex urban environments, underscoring the company’s commitment to addressing the challenges of modern infrastructure development.
Scoping
The fundamental challenge at both sites was maintaining public safety and access amidst ongoing construction activities. At the Rozelle Interchange, the primary need was for a safe, robust path that would allow the public to transit from the top of the train station down to The Crescent road below through a high traffic area. Similarly, in Campsie, during the demolition works in front of the new station entrance, there was a crucial need to ensure pedestrian safety while allowing uninterrupted access to the metro station.
Solution
Proscaf’s response to these challenges was the deployment of its specialised public access scaffolding solutions. Designed with safety, efficiency, and compliance at their core, Proscaf’s solutions were tailored to meet the unique requirements of each site.
For the Rozelle Interchange, Proscaf installed a comprehensive ramp system equipped with anti-skid flooring, childproof guardrails, and fence netting. This setup not only ensured pedestrian safety over and around the construction site but also prevented littering and unauthorised access to restricted areas.
At the Campsie site, Proscaf’s solution entailed a temporary covered walkway under the building being demolished. Utilising standard planks with a protective plastic covering ensured debris was effectively kept out of pedestrians’ paths. Moreover, load-bearing standards were strategically placed along the walkway to safeguard against the risk of accidentally falling heavy debris.
Product & Commercial Proposal
Proscaf’s public access solutions are distinguished by a few key features. They are highly adaptable, allowing for customisation according to site-specific challenges, as demonstrated in the two case studies. The products comply with stringent safety standards, incorporating features such as anti-skid flooring and childproof barriers to mitigate risks. Furthermore, the efficiency of installation and dismantling processes minimises disruption to both the construction activities and the public.
Delivery
The delivery of Proscaf’s public access solutions in both projects was characterised by meticulous planning and execution. In collaboration with construction and project management teams, Proscaf ensured that the installation of scaffolding occurred with minimal disruption to ongoing site activities and public traffic. Their approach emphasised not merely functional utility but also the aesthetic integration of the scaffolding within the urban environment, ensuring that the temporary structures were not eyesores.
Through-Life Support
Proscaf’s commitment to client support extends beyond the initial installation. Throughout the projects, Proscaf provided ongoing maintenance and adjustments as necessary to adapt to changing site conditions and requirements. This proactive approach ensured that the public access solutions remained safe, functional, and compliant throughout the construction period.
By providing reliable, safe, and compliant public access solutions, Proscaf played a crucial role in ensuring that construction activities at both the Rozelle Interchange and the Campsie Metro station could proceed without compromising public safety or access. These case studies exemplify how innovative scaffold solutions can effectively address the complex challenges of urban infrastructure projects, underscoring Proscaf’s expertise and commitment to excellence in this field.
