The Australian Federal Government is boosting funds in the infrastructure sector, as part of its stimulus plan to drive economic growth and support employment in a post pandemic recovery.
As detailed in the 2021 budget, community infrastructure, roads, and rail projects will receive $15.2bn of federal funding – which the government says takes the total infrastructure spend to $110bn over the next 10 years.
As part of this investment in infrastructure, various state transport bodies across the nation are allocating funds to programs aimed at updating and modernising rail networks. These programs include ‘More Trains, More Services (NSW)’ , and Rail’s Station Accessibility Upgrade Program (QLD).
These projects involve intricate and highly time-sensitive works, often completed as night works over rail shutdown periods. Delivery of these projects within the specified shutdown periods is crucial, and as a result works are methodically planned to maximise speed and efficiency.
